| | Aerith's Theme (Piano and Orchestra vers) - Final Fantasy | ] | The More Friends concert last night was awesome. They started with the opening of Final Fantasy VII, Bombing Mission for the first song. They said it was the first time that that piece was played live in the U.S. Aerith's Theme (FFVII) was next and it was my favorite piece of the night. Zanarkand (FFX) and Don't be Afraid (FFVIII) were next. After that, they did Terra's Theme (FFVI) and Swing de Chocobo. Swing de Chocobo was said to be arranged just for that night's concert, and it was jazz remix of the Chocobo theme. There was a great trumpet solo in the middle of it, and they showed clips of chocobos from Final Fantasy II - Final Fantasy XI. FINAL FANTASY (Final Fantasy) was next. Then the Black Mages were revealed and played The Rocking Grounds (FFIII) and Maybe I'm a Lion (FFVIII). The curtains lowered and they brought out Rikki to sing Suteki Da Ne (FFX). For the next song, they brought out Emiko Shiratori to sing another favorite of mine, A Place to Call Home ~ Melodies of Life (FFIX). It was sung in Japanese except one chorus, which was sung in English. Definitely the second favorite piece of the night for me. For the "last" song, they brought out 3 opera singers for Maria & Draco (FFVI). When the song was finished, everyone gave a standing ovation. There were many standing ovations, but I didn't stand until for any of them until this one. For the real last song (encore), the CSUF University Singers were brought in and the Black Mages came out one more time and played One Winged Angel (FFVII) along with the orchestra. For some reason, Nobuo Uematsu delayed the song for a bit and disappeared. Eventually, he came back and played the song. After the song, I stood for the second time for another standing ovation that was quite long.
I was surprised that they didn't show any trailers for FFVII: Advent Children though.
This year's E3 is going to bring lots of great news, but it has reignited the console wars. Sony blew me away with their tech demo of FFVII's intro. Nintendo surprised many with the fact that the Revolution would be backward compatible with all their old games from the N64 to all the way back to the NES. X-Box 360 is currently least impressive, but if they announce backward compatibility they will be up to par with the other two. Still, I hope Revolution's controller is a bit more normal for this generation.
Aside from the console details, the only games I'm looking forward to hearing more about are Kingdom Hearts II, Metal Gear Solid 4, and all the Final Fantasy VII and XII stuff.
I'm 13/14 in the GameFAQs contest. I had Ridley winning. Last match I'm concerned with is Kuja vs. Master Hand. I have Kuja winning. |
